That is an earwig. They are not going to hurt you, and in small numbers, won't cause much trouble in your garden either. In large numbers, they can eat a baby plant down to a stub overnight. Don't ask how I know.
If you're seeing lacy holes in your thin-leaved plants, you've got too many.
